Rosebowl Drama Festival 2011

Paphos Youth Theatre’s performance of Us and Them by David Campton took two major awards at the 2011 Rosebowl Drama Festival.

The play, written in 1972, is still today a topical piece about man’s inability to live together and to learn from his mistakes. PYT’s AS Drama students Hannah Durward, Anna Hall and Michael Ttappous performed the play for their examiner in April and were then delighted to be able to take the play to the Rosebowl Festival.

The ‘David Thomas Trophy for Best Actor’ was shared by Hannah Durward and Anna Hall and the ‘Rosebud’, a trophy created to award Youth theatre on the basis of the effectiveness of the production, was awarded to the whole team.

The festival’s adjudicator, David Thomas, was particularly impressed with the powerful performances given by the cast and he also praised the ingenuity of the set. Director Michelle Nonyelu was elated by PYT’s success.
